| i hate the bad back up lights on my XJ especially when offroad and there are trees all around. im going to add two lights on the roof for backup lights as well. i was just wondering what the easiest way to wire these to the backup lights would be, or do you recomend wiring them to a switch? thanks for your input! |

The best way to do it would be with a relay. That way you can tap main power from the battery, and have the relay triggered by the reverse lights going on. It's actually easier to do because you don't have to mount a switch either. _________________

I did the same thing on my S10 ZR2 that I had, although I mounted two fog lights under the rear bumper instead of on the roof. I wired it up with a relay and three position switch, so I could have them off all the time, on all the time, or just on with the factory backup lights. Here's the diagram I used to wire them up.

| i'd just splice into a your back up lamps on your tail lamps that way it will turn on as soon as u back up. u can buy connector to tap into your existing wires and makes a clean job. just watch the amps on your lights. probley only have a 15 amp fuse but 15 amps are a lot for lights exspecially if u have LEd |
