|
|
Hey guys and gals, yet another age related issue showing up on my 02'.
My valve cover gasket is leaking, and while that doesn't seem to be a difficult task, I still have a couple questions.
1. To RVT or not to RVT, I've had good and bad luck in the past using it, just wondering what you think.
2. I have done many sb Chevy valve covers, but not one 4.0 cover. Anything I should watch for?
Happy Holidays

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the gasket for yours is a molded rubber piece with metal inside. Just clean the cover and head very good and apply with no sealant. _________________

Thanks Orange, that's the type of gasket I hope I have, there a lot easier to "R&R" than the old cork or rubberized paper. I guessing over time the rubber gets brittle and cracks.
Seems like a straight forward task, any surprises I need to watch for? _________________ 2002 Wrangler Apex

It is very straight forward. Just make sure that you clean the mating surfaces good and torque the bolts and studs to spec. _________________
