2005 Liberty CRD:
Problem 1 - Often after a brisk acceleration to 50-60 mph, then trying to maintain that speed, it seems like the trans. torque converter is rapidly going in and out of "lock-up". It also does this while trying to drive at a steady speed on mildly hilly roads (on the down-hill side of the hills). It happens with or without cruise control being engaged. Whenever this occurs, I hear and feel the slack in the drive train, which is becoming more pronounced. I've taken the vehicle in many time to have this problem checked out, but of course, the Jeep tecnicians and dealer service managers cannot duplicate conditions to observe the problem.
Problem 2 - (May be related to problem 1) Once in a while, when vehicle is rolling slowly in my driveway with engine at idle speed, it seems like the torque converter locks, causing the vehicle to lurch forward and the engine stalls. It always starts up OK afterward, but leaves me with a pretty uneasy feeling. It has done this 5 or 6 time since I bought the Jeep. Again, it never does this for the Jeep service people.
I've heard that some Dodge pickups have had similar problems and that it may be due to some "bleed-through" of current in a wireing harness somewhere. Any help/guidance anyone could give would be appreciated. Confused
