I have '92 YJ, I4 2.5 L, 5 spd Manual, runs reasonable now but still a bit rough and little power over 40 mph. All stock, no lift, P225-75R15 tires. It has been sitting awhile, recently replaced oil pump, battery, and now spark plugs, dist cap, air filter, fuel filter, and crank position sensor. It passes emissions tests and shows no codes on ECM. CCV system seems to be working.
Jeep shows 128,000 miles, but engine was replaced somewhere near 85,00 by previous owner.
Any ideas of what else to check and how? Thanks! |

If any vehicle sits for a couple months plus, the fuel will start to varnish, making needle valves stick, clogging jets, and internal ports.
One thing you can try, is buy a couple bottles of fuel injection cleaner, and run them in consecutive tanks of gas. I have run two bottles in one tank and had no problem with a car that sat for a year.
If that doesn't work, it may be time for a carb re-build. _________________ 2002 Wrangler Apex
