| I bought the stainless hinges to replace my other rusty ones. Problem is I can't figure out if it is an allen wrench or some other tool? Any ideas???? I obviuosly don't want to strip it and like everything they are rusted on or really stuck... any other tips to make this easier are appreciated |

If it's star shaped, it's a torx. _________________

| i bought new door hinges and the bolts that came with them were allen style. but the ones that came with the kit were really cheap metal and striped all the time, so i went to tsc and bought fully stainless steel normal six sided style bolds and they work great. the stock bolts on the tj are torx for sure though. they should look like a star shape. if they are dont use an allen wrench or you will strip them for sure |

Hi. I'm new on here, and this is my first post, but I have to do it here first since I have a way to help.
SS hinges are the best way to go , However the original bolts are not SS, if they are rusted, step one is to coat them with a penetrating oil preferably Wintergreen. The bolts are torx, mine are T-50's. Chances are they are going to strip when you try to remove them, so what you might end up doing is like what I ended up doing, I had to drill the bolt head off, then drill through the shaft and install SS crosspiece ( Philips) screws,
try jiggling the torx bit back and forth also, this might break it loose |
