BLM Seeks Public Comment on Proposed OHV Route for Lakeview

Spokane, WA (April 24, 2008)- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comment on a proposal to designate a 10-mile route for Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) use on public land in the Lake View Ranch area, northwest of Odessa, WA.

The route has been proposed by the Odessa Citizens Action Committee (OCAC). If implemented, the proposal would connect already existing trails from Odessa to the Lakeview Ranch Road in the north half of the Lakeview Ranch area.

"The route would be created using approximately nine miles of existing two-track roads in the southern part of the Lakeview Ranch parcel," according to the OCAC proposal. These existing routes are currently designated as non-motorized; however there are designated motorized routes in the northern portion of the Lakeview Ranch area.

The OCAC hopes to create a continuous OHV loop from the town of Odessa, through the Lakeview Ranch area, and then returning to the town on County roads. The OCAC are negotiating rights-of-way on County and City streets to form this continuous loop for trail-riders.
