Nearly
1,600 Participants Gather at
Euro Camp Jeep in Northern Germany

Land Fleesensee, Germany, Jul 2,
2008
- Nearly 1,600 Jeep® enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond will
gather in the picturesque Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region of Germany with
its 1,000 lakes for the eighth annual Euro Camp Jeep. This ultimate
celebration of Jeep - the brand, the vehicles and the lifestyle - will
consist of two back-to-back events, from July 2-9, to accommodate all
of the registered participants.
"With almost 70 years of history, Jeep is one of the most recognisable
brands worldwide, and Euro Camp Jeep continues to be the largest
single-brand 4x4 customer event in Europe," said Mike Manley, Executive
Vice President - International Sales, Marketing and Business
Development, Chrysler LLC. "The direct contact and feedback from true
Jeep enthusiasts through this event ensures that we will continue this
path of success and that our global portfolio will continue to evolve
in a way that is aligned with the core values of the Jeep Brand:
adventure, authenticity, mastery and freedom."
Euro Camp Jeep is an annual event which allows Jeep aficionados and
their families to explore a full range of activities and experiences
with fellow Jeep fans. It is the ultimate lifestyle event for owners of
Jeep brand vehicles.
Euro
Camp Jeep Activities

Activities include driving
off-road
trails, orienteering exercises, scenic regional drives and the Jeep
Challenge which requires participants to recover all of the missing
elements to make their way through a course.
As part of the Jeep Academy at Euro Camp Jeep, off-road driving experts
will offer advanced 4x4 techniques and coaching that comply with Jeep's
philosophy of responsible off-road driving and protection of the
environment. Participants can also learn much more about their vehicles
by talking directly with attending Jeep engineers. There is a Jeep
Horse activity with horse rides through the countryside and a Jeep
Dragon Boat Race where teams will compete against each other. A Jeep
Kids activity area will offer adventures for younger family members.
A Jeep Gear store will be on site with Jeep branded clothing and
merchandise. There are videos of each day's adventures during themed
evening parties and live concerts.
In addition to a full-range of activities for participants, there are
several special Jeep vehicles on display at this year's Euro Camp Jeep.
They include the Jeep Renegade concept vehicle, the all-new Jeep J8 and
Extreme Rescue Jeep image vehicle. Extrem Events will also display one
of their specially equipped Jeep Wrangler Unlimited vehicles which the
organisation plans to drive from Paris to New York, across the Bering
Strait, later this year.
"Euro Camp Jeep is the ultimate destination for Jeep owners across
Europe and beyond," said Judy Wheeler, International Marketing
Director. "With a broad set of activities ranging from the Jeep Academy
to one-on-one interaction with Jeep engineers, Euro Camp Jeep is the
only event offering such a complete 4x4 customer experience. It
reinforces the connection between our customers and one of the
strongest brands in the world - Jeep!"
First
Carbon-neutral Euro Camp Jeep

The Jeep brand continues its
close
connection with nature by making Euro Camp Jeep 2008 a carbon-neutral
event. In association with the event, Chrysler LLC will make a
contribution to Waldaktie, an important environmental project in the
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region of Germany.
Waldaktie is an organisation which plants trees in the first tourism
forest in Germany through donations. This allows individuals to have a
carbon-neutral vacation by offsetting the CO2 produced during their
holiday.
Chrysler will donate funds to Waldaktie in order to plant and maintain
660 trees - one for each registered team participating in Euro Camp
Jeep 2008. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to
register for a tree and Chrysler will sponsor another tree in their
name.
The Jeep brand has long been associated with Tread Lightly!, a
non-profit organisation offering a variety of tools to help arm
recreationists and the industries that serve them with essential
outdoor ethics, and the responsible enjoyment of nature. This agreement
with Waldaktie continues the efforts of the brand and Jeep owners to
improve the environment while enjoying the freedom that Jeep vehicles
provide.
Jeep
J8

The
Jeep J8 is
designed to be a
hard-working multipurpose vehicle in humanitarian, commercial,
government and military applications.
With the all-new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited as the starting point, Jeep
engineers increased its capability and versatility. Axles, brakes and
suspension components are engineered to provide up to 1,250 kilogrammes
(2,756 lbs.) of cargo capacity. The Jeep J8 is powered by a 2.8-litre
four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that produces 118 kW (158 hp) and 400
N•m (295 lb.-ft.) of torque, providing towing capability of up to 3,500
kg (7,716 lbs.). The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic
transmission.
The Jeep J8 is available as a two-door with an extended pickup bed for
personnel or equipment transport, or a four-door multipurpose vehicle.
It may be produced with numerous vehicle-body and seating
configurations in either right-hand or left-hand drive.
The same capability that makes the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited
famous also makes the Jeep J8 a truly multipurpose vehicle.
The Jeep J8 will be produced in the Chrysler LLC joint-venture facility
in Cairo, Egypt.
Jeep
Renegade Concept

A B-segment Jeep concept vehicle,
the
Jeep
Renegade is a sporty two-seater ideally suited for the all-weather
fun of dune-surfing or rock-crawling. Constructed of environmentally
responsible materials, sustainability is a key theme of the Renegade
concept. The exterior design defines Renegade's one-with-nature
personality, emphasised by its large, flaring wheel openings, oversized
wheels and tyres, and cut-down speedster windshield - all of which
combine to deliver the promise of cross-country fun and agility.
The advanced propulsion system in the Jeep Renegade concept starts with
a lithium-ion battery pack that can drive the vehicle for 65
kilometres. A range extender - a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder BLUETEC
diesel engine - allows for journeys up to 645 kilometres.
The Jeep Renegade concept's lightweight aluminum architecture and
regenerative-braking system help to improve overall efficiency, while
dual electric 200 kW motors propel a very capable 4x4 system - complete
with Low Range and locking differentials - worthy of carrying the Jeep
name.
Extreme
Rescue Jeep

An all-new display vehicle also
makes
its debut at Euro Camp Jeep. The Extreme Rescue Jeep embodies what the
ultimate rescue vehicle could be. It features modifications and
additional components typical of those that enthusiasts around the
world use to make the already extremely capable Jeep Wrangler even more
capable.
The vehicle began as a production Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. The
suspension was modified to provide an additional 10 centimetres of
height and IROK 36x13.50-17LT tyres that are more than 90 centimetres
tall have a tread design for maximum traction in mud, snow and rocks.
The tyres are mounted on Mickey Thompson Classic Lock II beadlock
wheels; a popular style of wheel among off-road competition vehicles in
the US.
The interior has been upgraded with Katzkin leather seating while the
exterior look is created with Mopar® Rock Rails, Mopar taillight
guards, a custom-fabricated roof rack, matte-finish black paint and a
tubular front bumper with integrated winch mount complete with a Warn
winch and off-road lights.
The Extreme Rescue Jeep takes the extreme enthusiast-modified vehicle
and incorporates the rescue spirit within every Jeep brand vehicle.
