The Hayman Roads Management Environmental Assessment (EA) will be
available to the public for review and comments on Thursday, July 15,
2004. Included in the Hayman Roads Management EA are four Alternatives
that include a "No Action" alternative and the "Proposed Action"
alternative. The Alternatives are based on the findings of the October
2003 Hayman Roads Analysis Report (RAP) and public comments received
during the public scoping process in January and February of this year. The intent
of the Hayman Roads
Management EA is to provide direction to restore needed roads within
the watersheds affected by the 2002 Hayman Fire to a safe,
environmentally sound condition, and decommission or obliterate
unneeded roads and those causing excessive erosion, water degradation
and/or habitat degradation.
Hard copies
or an electronic version
on a compact disc (CD) of the Hayman Roads Management EA will be
available at the three ranger districts of the Pike National Forest.
These include: Pikes Peak Ranger District at 610 S. Weber, Colorado
Springs, CO; South Platte Ranger District at 19316 Goddard Ranch Court,
Morrison, CO; and the South Park Ranger District at 320 Highway 285,
Fairplay, CO. To request a mailed hard copy or CD version of the EA
contact Bill Jackson of the Hayman Restoration Team at (719) 264-6154
or leave a clear message with your name and address. Comment forms will
also be available at these offices.
An online
portable document format
(.pdf) version of the Hayman Roads Management EA will be available on
July 15 for downloading at www.fs.fed.us/r2/psicc/hayres/travel.
Comment forms and a direct email link will also be available at this
website.
The public
is encouraged to submit
their comments during the 30-day comment period beginning on July 15.
All comments must focus directly on this project, include your name,
